The term shibari, meaning \"binding\", is a practice that can be enjoyed by all. It doesn't matter the gender or the orientation. Shibari is the name that kinbaku has taken in the West since the 1990s. Shibari has its origins in the Japanese tradition of Hoj\u014djutsu, a martial art of tying prisoners with knots specific to their class or social status. Subsequently, this practice was used as a form of meditation<\/a> and relaxation. It is with the success of 50 Shades of Grey that the sexual practice comes out of the shadows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For shibari we can't use just any rope, for example the ropes that should be avoided at all costs are polyethylene ropes. We will never use clothesline or mountaineering rope for this practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shibari ropes to be preferred are those made of natural materials such as jute, linen, hemp, cotton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These ropes have a sufficient coefficient of friction so that the knots do not detach themselves and allow a good locking of the rope. These ropes do not burn the skin when rubbed.
